Stranger Things is officially back in production. The popular Netflix series is gearing up to return for its fifth and final season. Read on for everything you need to know about Stranger Things season 5, from the release date to the cast.
“THIS IS A CODE RED STRANGER THINGS 5 production has officially begun!!!,” the show posted on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a black and white photo of the returning cast.
Production was halted for the acclaimed Duffer Brothers series in May because of the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) strike (two months before SAG-AFTRA decided to picket for similar demands). Both strikes were resolved toward the end of 2023 — and the cast and crew of Stranger Things expressed a sense of urgency to get back to work.
“I mean, we got to film that last season of Stranger Things, don’t we?” said David Harbour, who plays fan-favorite police chief Jim Hopper, to Variety after the actors’ strike ended. “I got to be down there, like, in a couple of days. We got to get going — we’re late.”
When Will Stranger Things Season 5 Come Out?
Neither the Stranger Things writers nor Netflix have confirmed a premiere date. However, because production is resuming in January 2024, we expect Season 5 of the sci-fi thriller series to be released in late 2024 or the beginning of 2025 at the earliest.
